Daytona Beach!!!

I cannot believe how beautiful Daytona Beach Florida was! We stayed in a “private terrace room” that overlooked the Atlantic ocean and had sweeping views of the city as well. We got there on a Thursday before the first weekend of the rally. The energy in the air was electrifying…The sound of bikes constantly purring in the background the patriotism that was all around…It felt like pure freedom after such a long year of grieving and quarantine. Brian and I felt so alive and we were loving it! Every night there was live music at multiple outdoor bars and so many happy people just loving life and bouncing positivity off of each other… We were supposed to leave on March 9th to come back…On the eighth I was in our hotel room packing for the trip home the next day ( though I was feeling kind of depressed and sluggish because I was not ready to leave), when I got a call from Dr. Qalbani’s office. They could see me on the 16 which was the following Tuesday, and the receptionist wanted me to know that the doctor told her I would also need to be prepared for a stereotactic biopsy. I remember looking that up while we were sitting on the balcony and thinking oh my God Brian I’m not ready to go back to that reality yet! So we talked about it and extended our trip for another few days and decided to come home on Monday the 15th so I wouldn’t have to wait and worry at home but could just go on enjoying the “free life” we had been living in Daytona. The story would not be complete without mentioning how many survivors I crossed paths with while down in Daytona breast cancer survivors were popping up left and right. I now know that was God putting HOPE in my path, One survivor at a time. Their stories encourage me and The inexplicable connection I had with them gives me such comfort now that I’ve gone on to join the unspeakably powerful sisterhood of women who have battled or will battle breast cancer. Each and every one of those “sisters” that I have met has been the strongest, most inspiring example of the resilience and determination of the human spirit. Their passion for living and the compassion they have for the other especially the sisters in this club of “involuntarily drafted members” is such a beautiful witness to the purpose of life & our connection to others during our time here on earth…Annnnnnd that brings me to my first reference to a reggae song😂😁 “One Love” comes to mind.
